Comment: Let’s be honest, Plaunt is the only ferry game in town (or rather to the island). That said, it is a nice ride over. On our way to Bob-Lo there weren’t a lot of cars going over. If that’s the case you can stand out on the deck much easier for the views.
But there are really nice views from inside the seated area as well. It was a full-house car-wise on our return trip.
FYI, the engine noise inside that area can be pretty loud. If you have anyone with sensory issues be prepared with sound deadening headphones or ear plugs.
Punctuality is a must. You won’t be waiting past the time for your ride and it won’t be waiting for you to show up after the scheduled times either.
It’s faster than other ferries we have been on. So you will reach your destination in no time.
And don’t believe the people who say the folks on the island aren’t friendly!
We found the exact opposite was true.
Be a good steward of the land, don’t drive around like a maniac, and just treat others as you would want to be treated. If you do that you will be welcomed.

Comment: It was fast, easy, smooth and these guys clearly have been at this a while. They work smooth and efficient, but are also super friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again. In my circumstance, I went over to the island with my motorcycle to spend the day exploring. Great trip! If you haven’t been I’d go. Also, I would suggest whatever map apps you use, download the maps first or have a dedicated GPS unit. Cell can be spotty depending on where you are on the island. I used predownloaded maps with a Garmin InReach and that worked pretty well.

Comment: We used Plaunt Transportation to go from Cheboygan to Bois Blanc Island both ways. We are from Canada so it was a little bit of a drive to make with 2 little ones. We ended up having to get our car on the ferry last minute and they were able to make it happen! Lynn was a treat to deal with in the office- seriously. She was so informative, and kind and really made us feel comfortable.
The rest of the team really knew what they were doing, which took away a big anxiety for me, and everyone was always so helpful and willing to help. We will be making this trip again and cannot wait to ride with Plaunt Transportation again!
