Comment: Easy to board and costs $9.11 in total. There may be a line to purchase a ticket so just do it online if possible.
You can board with pets, stroller and bikes. The ferry has 2 floors: upper is better for pictures but does get chilly and lower will mean you get to get off faster. Incredibly worth it to see Toronto skyline and explore the islands with amusement park, disc golf, beach, and many biking trails.

Comment: Horrible experience !! Very chaotic Extremely difficult to get on and off the ferry with kids. PARENTS BEWARE !!
The Jack Layton Ferry Terminal in Toronto is a crucial gateway to the beautiful Toronto Islands, The location is convenient and the ferry ride offers great views of the city skyline. But , the terminal experience was disappointing. Lot of improvement areas.
Firstly, the terminal becomes extremely crowded, especially during peak times, leading to long wait times and a rather chaotic atmosphere. You can see it the attached pictures
There was no crowd management, people were standing in groups and when ferry arrived, it was almost a stampede, was extremely difficult to get on a ferry with kids
While coming back, we stranded in a queue for more than an hour, it started raining, no shelter, no announcements on the ferry schedule, no signs. Very poor management. No seating in the queues, the standing for hours becoming very tough for kids. Many people left with private water taxis.
