Comment: On Thursday July 11, 2024 – we parked in the free day parking which is up the road & they shuttle you back & forth via nice tractors pulling a train of seated shaded carts. You just have to remember which stop you’re at because they have several stops, we were at stop C.
We bought tickets at the window because I’d read in the Google reviews they do Veteran’s discounts but I wasn’t exactly sure what the discount was – my husband showed his drivers license, which shows he’s a Navy veteran & we both got astonishingly reduced tickets. ❤️ It was $24 for each of us vs the standard adult ticket online $34 or $36 at the window.
The service at the desk was fast & friendly. I also asked if there was any veteran discount on the carriage add-on tickets, they said no & the best way to get carriage tickets were to buy them on the island – glad we waited because we ended up renting a tandem bicycle instead to ride around the edge of the whole island which was a lot of fun!
The lines onto the ferries both ways were short so we were able to get on the boats almost immediately. Both times we sat on the open top & enjoyed the sunny breezes.

Comment: Shepler’s ferry staff were amazing & very efficient! We enjoyed using their shuttle service from the parking lot to the ferry & even though there weren’t enough seats available on the shuttle when we arrived at the pick up location, we only had to wait under 5 minutes for the next shuttle to take us to the ferry. Super friendly staff that do an excellent job transporting large groups of people, bicycles & luggage in a timely manner.

Comment: Happy with our ferry service- military discount but you can’t buy on-line you need to go to the service window, friendly, organized, free parking in the overflow lot.
They offer MORE “UNDER the BRIDGE” ferry trips than the other company. Check the schedule for exactly times (9 to 10:30am). “Under the bridge” ferry did not cost additional.
Return ferry trip was easy and you can sit under the canopy for shade while waiting.
Make sure you keep your ticket to board the Return Ferry.
Free Shuttle was quick and they ran continuously.

Comment: Shepler’s is always a great experience. The crew are friendly, attentive and professional. You can purchase tickets online ahead of time. There is plenty of parking, but the lot can fill up, and you may have to park in town, which will take extra time. If you wish to sit on the upper deck on the ferry, it can be cold and windy; I would recommend a light sweater. If you have the chance to take the Mighty Mac crossing, it is a great opportunity to learn a bit of history about the Mackinac Bridge, and to get some fantastic photos directly under the bridge. The crossing to and from St. Ignace is typically less crowded than the one from Mackinac City.

Comment: Had a great tripe both to the island and back. We caught one of the trips going under the bridge in the morning and went below deck in the evening. Had a great time!
