Comment: Efficient. Ticketing was smooth with lane direction easy to understand. Walked around the loading pier while waiting for our ferry and used the indoor restrooms which were clean and functional.

Comment: The Ferry’s in WA have high COVID instructions in place, still. The have closed almost everything, including the cafeterias (so eat on the way). Only the bathrooms and a couple of vending machines are open. Little tip, the bathrooms are smelling pretty bad now days, I HATE COVID-19!!!!
The views, of course, are still amazing.

Comment: The Vashon North-End Ferry is such a convenient travel mode to get from W Seattle, to the Island and back! I realized this during my planning for a day bike ride on the island. Turns out… reservation times were critical for planning my day. Check it out… the scheduled times were met, within 20 mins or so for all 4 of my trips. The 2 times they were running late, it worked out to my advantage, cus we were late too!
I used my bike when crossing, so being first in line ahead of the motorcycles and cars is cool, but boy it can be a sprint off the boat! That was way fun…
And unexpected.
The watercraft is clean, quiet, and has plenty of comfortable seating inside and out. Snacks and drinks, via vending machines were on board, but very pricey. Clean restrooms as well are provided.
Tying the bikes with the provided hanging ropes, was quite helpful and secured the bikes just fine. I have to admit…I was a tad nervous tying mine up to the rail, as there was a restored, all electric, classic car within 3 feet of my bicycle. Please, please don’t fall over…
It didn’t. My knot tying skills prevailed.
The last returning ferry to the mainland is late, so you can enjoy a full day over there. It’s a great opportunity to visit with family while riding, take in the views or a sunset, or maybe get some undisturbed remote work done. But ya better be productive, as it’s a very short ride.
Make sure to get your Orca Card, (Safeway in W Seattle)and preload it prior to boarding. Or, just get your tickets at the conveniently located kiosks. Prices are fair & so worth it!

Comment: I visited there a few months ago, it was a stop made on my transit to Southworth Ferry dock. If you have the time to make a trip to Vashon Island. It has a nice little town to stop and visit.

Comment: Pretty great for bike/walk-ons. We just showed up and waited while the ferry docked, unloaded, and then let us on first. They have a few ropes to anchor your bike to the wall while you go relax upstairs or in the front of the boat. The ride is super quick from Vashon to Fauntleroy (West Seattle), just 15 mins.
