Comment: This was our first time on a ferry. We wanted to go from Oak Island to the Fort Fisher Aquarium and it was very convenient. It was only $7 per vehicle and took 35 minutes for the ferry ride. Driving on and off the ferry was quick and organized. You can get out of your vehicle and enjoy the ferry ride and the views or stay in your vehicle if you wish. There are restrooms on the ferry as well.

Comment: Had a fun time riding the ferry from Fort Fisher to Southport and back. We walked on rather than taking a car because we were coming right back. Just wanted to take the kid on a boat ride. It was very windy and choppy but the ride was smooth sailing. Great experience for a three year old fascinated with all forms of transportation.

Comment: Just follow 421 south from Carolina Beach or Kure Beach and it takes you right to the ferry, easy pay, line up in marked lanes and drive on the ferry when directed. Drive off in Southport, couple minutes ride into town, shops, restaurants, 20 minutes to Oak Island lighthouse for something to do/see. Smokehouse BBQ restaurant is on way to lighthouse from Southport, which I recommend.
