Comment: My family has been using this ferry since it began. As a little child this was the highlight of our visit to our grandmother’s home in Bertrand. In the 1950s the fairy was so small that the operator used a pole to help get us across as the engine was the size of a lawn mower engine. It was quiet and sweet and the clearness of the water was like looking through glass. It was only big enough for 1 car at a time. The ferryman was always so nice and helpful and really seemed to get a kick out of talking to the kids about taking care of the rivers. Wonderful childhood memories. I’m hoping it is still there as I take a final voyage toward the Corotom River to lay my mother’s ashes by the water she loved so much.

Comment: This ferry takes considerable time off of our traveling in Lancaster. Will (the Captain) knows what he’s doing and he always serves you with a smile. Just make sure you know the hours of operation.
