Comment: We decided to start the first biking adventure on the Gauley River Path. The Rails to Trail path runs beside the Gauley River. Besides being an easy ride on a great surface, the view is spectacular. We were totally alone in the beautiful West Virginia mountains. We had our lunch at the famous Sweets Falls Rapids. Sitting listening to the sounds of water, wind and forest animals helps me get to the peaceful place in my mind that has been hard to get to with all the events going on in our world. I find that being alone in the woods is my way out of my mind full of images from the news. I wish that everyone everywhere had the same privileges that we have because of our fore fathers forward thinking. We are free to do or not to do anything we want. I hope to experience everything that our state has to offer outdoors. Fresh air gives me a clear mind and a happy heart. Turning 60 made me think that I should see, taste and enjoy my life before I wake up and I am 90. Rails to Trails makes it possible for me to continue to ride bikes and hike on surfaces that are safe and enjoyable. Someday I hope that they cross our beautiful Country from Sea to Shining Sea. I also hope that everyone gets outside and enjoys the peace and quiet of the woods. You don’t know what you can do until you do it. Go see, taste and enjoy everything everyday. Peace starts within us and it spreads to others through us. Go spread peace. Thank you West Virginia for the space to be free.

Comment: Very nice and well-kept put in for the lower Gauley river. You do want to get there early as well. Parking is ample it does fill up quick due to the popularity of the river. It is a long and winding dirt road so please watch your speed as most of it is barely wide enough for one and a half vehicles. If another vehicle approaches, somebody must give away, in most cases this is not difficult to do as long as you were being courteous and minding your speed. They do have restrooms at the put in.
