Comment: ****Book crossing at least 6 months in advance if you want to rent a cabin as they are limited.***
We were delayed for 6 days in North Sydney due to mechanical issues, and we had this new boat for the short crossing to Port aux basque. We were delayed again for 2 & half hours on departure.
We returned through Argentina, Newfoundland & were delayed for a 3rd time due to fueling.
The majority of residents of Argentina are employed by Marine Atlantic, the giant weed wearhouse, or are self-employed.
Marine Atlantic does not reimburse its customers for delays,
ie. 6 days until we were rescheduled for crossing to Newfoundland, Canada…so plan to stay in a hotel if you are delayed. ***Limited hotels in North Sydney.
Absolutely beautiful new boat! We stayed in a handy cap room.
The Lobster Pound & Moore (seafood) is a great restaurant for dinner in North Sydney, Canada; reservations are required. (MONTHS BEFORE YOU SCHEDULED CROSSING)
***If you think of a sit-in at the yard, becauce of cancelation, think again as they bring in the local police during emptying of the yard (North Sydney).
Eat & fuel up before going to Argentina as there are very few places to stop; only a food truck on site & gift store at the terminal.
If you are in North Sydney, you can exit out from the terminal through security & hang a left to get to the main street. Tim Hortons will be up on the right as you exit the back street & the “Lobster Pound & Moore, is down to your left next to a tall gray building at the waterfront.

Comment: These guys are pros.
They find ways past mechanical hiccups and fix it fast. They have the friendliest servers and customer service folks. Also, I’d like to point out how friendly their lower deck crews are. On my trip back to NS from NL on the Ala’suinu which was it’s first commercial trip, a woman asked a man dressed in a Marine Atlantic uniform. “Excuse me Sir! What time does the dining room open for supper?” The man took off his safety helmet, looked at the lady and said; “I’m sorry ma’am, I have no idea I’m just an engineer.” Everyone in line started laughing. Everyone making the best of the struggles these people go through for us and enduring the dangers of the sea day after day, so we can visit the ones we love.
I hope the Karen in line who was yelling at the poor lady working at the “hotel desk” reads this and realizes her error. God love the east coast and all the maritime provinces. Thank you once again for your hospitality and kindness. To all the staff at Marine Atlantic.

Comment: I had to take the Argentia ferry for a job I had. It was booked only a week in advance so I was unable to get a cabin as I was told they are booked months in advance. I did overhear a guy say he was able to get one last minute though. Staff are not very friendly at all. And their stories are not consistent with each other. I went to the desk to inquire about a cabin or lounge seating and I was very rudely laughed at and told that cabins are booked and there is no lounge seating left. I then told her there was literally nowhere to sit and she was not concerned with my problem. There was a line up of people with complaints as the boat seemed to be overbooked for what seating was available.
I ended up finding an empty spot to sit, next to two young girls. At one point one of them stretched out a bit and was scolded by an employee that she has to sit up straight because some people don’t have a seat at all.
Why book so many people if there is not enough seating?
It’s extremely difficult to be comfortable sitting upright on a 17 hour boat ride.
I ate at the buffet, it was about 35 dollars. Lots of choices, It was decent for a buffet but the pork was very dry.
I did not enjoy my time on the Argentia ferry at all.

Comment: This terminal was very busy, neat and tidy. Staff were very welcoming. We had taken MV Atlantic Vision Ferry and it requires to book tickets 6 months in advance of a cabin is required due to its long 16 Hours journey on water from Argentia, Newfoundland to North Sydney. Nova Scotia.
We were late to book for cabin early so we had to sleep on air seats which were comfortable for sitting but not for sleeping, and toilet and shower facilities were inside air seats room which was very nice and clean.

Comment: The boat ride was great and the staff is fantastic but the fact that you are always tripping over dogs is dangerous and it was very unpleasant because of all the dogs allowed on board and not in kennels for those of with allergies. Apparently people that suffer from allergies are not even close to a priority.
