Comment: Taking the ferry to and from Washington Island was such an amazing experience! We took our car over, so you can either sit in the car or go up on the top deck and look out. The views of the water are gorgeous. You can even see some of the lighthouses and islands from the water. Each way is around 30 minutes, so it’s a good amount of time to enjoy the scenic views. I can’t wait to take the ferry again once I’m back visiting! Highly recommend!

Comment: Friendly, efficient people. The line moved quickly. They don’t waste any space and know exactly how to fill it. Your passengers may consider exiting the vehicle before its loaded on the ferry. There’s a 50% chance they won’t be able to open their door during the trip…the sunroof and climbing over seats is still an option though;)

Comment: It’s always a beautiful scenic view going to and from the Island. When the water is calm and the winds are low, the crossing can be made quickly and smoothly. When the winds are high and the water gets choppy is when you’re in for a fun ride, so you’d better hold on to your hat and be prepared for that inevitable and inordinate pitch and yaw of the boat as it cruises through the waves which will come crashing over bow and stern and onto the deck and the vehicles and sometimes yourself, if you choose to stand outside. If you suffer from motion sickness, good luck, and God-speed to you.
The prices for the ferry ride have gradually increased over the years. We paid about 60 bucks for 2 adults in an SUV, which is noticeably more than we paid the previous year, which I suppose is to be expected given the current circumstance of our economy. The ferry crew can be hit or miss. Some have generally good attitudes and demeanors towards their customers and their jobs, and some are downright crotchety and rude to the point of malicious willful ignorance. So, bear that in mind when dealing with some of these lads and bring a thick skin in case you are on the receiving end of their brooding ill moods.
We’ve been making this crossing to and from for well over 2 decades and hope to continue making it for 2 more decades to come. Thanks for getting us there and back again relatively safely.

Comment: Line workers are all consummate professionals, expeditiously transporting tourists to and from the mainland. The personnel responsible for getting the cars onto and off the ferry were particularly capable, aware, and communicative.
