Comment: It’s about a 7 to 10 minute ride to the other side to Dartmouth. Highly recommend it, super affordable at $2.75 CAD for round trip. Great views of the ocean and Halifax harborfront. The only downside is you need exact cash, a bus pass, for downloading Halifax transit app, in order to get on the ferry. Old school transit system

Comment: I am looking forward to when there will be an additional ferry terminal in Bedford. I would not have to bus along the Bedford highway and deal with potential traffic.
I prefer to take the ferry to Dartmouth, especially when Halifax closes one bridge. Thankfully, this is a cheap option, too.
It can be busy on the ferries in the summer, especially when festivals are happening. In the winter, it can be quiet on the ferries.

Comment: Buy a pass of tickets if you’re in the city for a couple of days. Ferry is a great way to see the city and visit Dartmouth.

Comment: It’s a cheap ride to get on the boat, though the Halifax Ferry Terminal building facility could improve to meet the 21st century. While the HFXGO app is useful, tap payment options could be added for convenience rather than getting coin change to pay in cash for people visiting from out of town.

Comment: The ferry to/from Halifax/Alderney(Dartmouth) is a great experience. Great views of both sides.
Ask for a free transfer so you can come back without paying the return.
The cost as of October 2023 is 2.75. They require you to pay in exact change, but there was a change machine that worked great.
