Comment: Love that a place with such historical significance is a short drive from DC. Park at the park’s visitor lot and hop on the free shuttle and enjoy the tour narration. Only downside is you cannot Bring your pets for who can travel with furry friends.
The town is lovely. Lots of little shops and a few good places to grab a bite. Check out the Amtrak station when you have a chance. It’s cute.
The surround outdoor spaces provide ample opportunity to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Comment: Out of the Movie like scenario.
Beautiful experience going around the whole place.
They have a small documentary Movie also, don’t miss it.Tells the history of the place. The walking trail is also damn green and the bus service every ten minutes comfortable.
Enjoy.

Comment: Very enjoyable visit. My son opted to walk the train instead of taking the bus. We took the main park trail down to the town from the visitor center and a part of the Appalachian Trail going back up. Happy to visit once, will go back just to do some more hiking.

Comment: Lots of cool history here. If in the area I would put it on a must see list. My suggestion would be to park at visitor center and take the bus into town. It was well worth the $20 to park. The town is congested and little parking is available. The rangers have maps and good knowledge of the area and will help you with any questions you may have. Lots of little museum’s to visit that tell the history of what happened there. Nice walking trails small shops and places to eat.

Comment: We made an unplanned visit to the gorgeous Harpers Ferry on a Saturday. We paid the entry fee of about $20 for our car and parked at the visitor centre. From there, we grabbed a map, spoke to a friendly ranger and boarded the free shuttle bus (operates every 10 minutes) to the Lower Town district area. Wow, this area blew us away.. beautiful landscapes on one side and vintage towns on the other. A mix of history and adventure, Harpers Ferry was a delight! We walked on the bridge, went down to the river and also grabbed an ice cream in the town. Restrooms are available at the visitor centre. Next time we visit, we would love to do the famous Maryland Heights trek. Overall, we loved our short and sweet visit to this national historic park.
