The ferry is nice and easy for kids. The staff is extremely nice and helpful.
Very important note! They only take cash & there is not an ATM! Make sure you bring cash!
We have friends that drove from anchorage but since they didn’t have cash they had to immediately drive back home, which was a huge bummer for them!
The fishing stations for processing your salmon are really nice as well. There’s a trail in the other side of the river that will take you down the river with stair access every few feet as well.

Met some awesome knowledge people in the parking lot who gave all sorts of tips on fishing this spot and many others. The water was extremely high and fast moving with HUNDREDS of sockeye salmon staying out of the current. Absolutely beautiful

Comment: Lifelong Alaskan here saying this area could use more parking accommodations. Waiting 3 hours to merely park is what you expect to find in NYC, LA or Chicago.
One seriously beautiful area. Spectacular. So much so that I placed my father’s ashes on the mountain side. If you’re going fishing expect delays. If you’re sightseeing/walking/hiking you want to go when the salmon runs are not strong. Otherwise one truly spectacular experience

Comment: Beautiful, gorgeous water and atmosphere. If you like to go fly fishing this is the place you pay $12 for parking fee and for a ride to the other side of the river.
