Comment: They offer a good service over to Dieppe. I was inislly unlucky as my sailing was cancelled. But not one wants to be on a rocky ferry, so I was happy to go a day later when it was smooth sailing. We had a lovely sunset while we were crossing.

Comment: Good value (especially with over 60’s discount) and efficient boarding and disembarkation. Went overnight in cabin but didn’t sleep too well. Beds are a bit cramped and not the most comfortable. But for the price . . .

Comment: Smaller and better crossing compared to Calais.
The only crossing where it’s allowed to travel with a dog if you are on foot passenger (without a car) – if you break down and travel in a hired car you will not be able to cross with French car. Only on foot

Comment: We tend to favour using the DFDS Transmarche ferry service from Newhaven to/from Dieppe as it’s alot quieter and easier than Dover to/from Calais (September 2022) Its also really good value for money. Well, certainly better than Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth to Caen or Le Havre.
The staff are always friendly.
The only downside is the time that it takes to disembark. The crossing is 4 hours, but then it can take anything from 30 minutes to an hour to get down to the car deck. I’m not sure why it takes so long, but it does, which can be the most frustrating part of the journey. Waiting by reception for foot passengers to disembark is rather annoying.
All-in-all though it’s a service that we enjoy using and is the nearest to Paris, taking about two hours not rushing.
We returned again this month (October 2024), travelling out and back via DFDS Newhaven/Dieppe. Ok the Newhaven side needs a jolly good refurb’ but the French side is modern, clean and fairly efficient. The embarkation and disembarkation process seemed to be better on this occasion to, something that wasn’t great last time.
Plus the ferry that we travelled on, Côte D’Albâtre has (like its sister ship, Seven Sisters, undergone a comprehensive overhaul and refurb’. In fact during the winter season it appears that only one of the two vessels is used, as Seven Sisters was in the dock at Dieppe, resulting in two five hour crossings a day to and from Newhaven.
So of the crossings in the last two years I’d have to say that DFDS Newhaven/Dieppe is the best.

Comment: Small little port. Had everything that was needed. No hustle and bustle.
Went in June 23. Planning to go June 24.
To be precise we took the 11.59 pm ferry.
Had a cabin for the four hour crossing and managed to get a few hours sleep before having breakfast to set us on our way.
