Comment: Hovedøya is only a short ferry ride away from Oslo and offers some lovely walking paths, beaches, cafes, as well as old ruins which are definitely worth exploring. Once you’ve had enough of the island you can take a tour around the other islands in the area. You can get off the ferry each time or just stay on, which will give you a scenic tour of about an hour, ending back up at Oslo’s ferry port. All of the islands are within zone 1 of the public transport system and can therefore be accessed with a regular public transport ticket, making this a cheap and accessible getaway.

Comment: Lovely island literally 5 mins boat ride from the city hall which is just crazy considering how quaint and quiet the island is.
There are very nice walks round the circumference overall and the beach though really crowded when we went there was really nice for a picnic and just to enjoy the sun and surf.
Highly recommend for tourists travelling in summer

Comment: Quick ferry ride from the city!
Great place for a picnic, some sun bathing or just to walk around. Great views of surrounding islands and the city of Oslo.
Lots of people bring disposable grills here during the summer. Picnic tables and some open space with fields in the center of the island.

Comment: Beautiful fjord easy to get by ferry. Only 8 minutes away from Aker Brygge. A nice walk through a small forest, ruins of a convent and the beach. Excellent view of Oslo.
