Comment: Nice ferry, clean, takes 15 minutes from Portofino to Santa Margarita
Highly recommend taking the ferry and not the bus, it is more expensive but it’s worth the money for the views
On some of the boats you can sit downstairs in the back, no people, coverage from the sun and beautiful views
Sometimes the ferry is late by a couple of minutes or it leaves earlier. Should be 1 ride each hour

Comment: Absolute madness. The throng of passengers coming and going overwhelms the harbor area. It isn’t fun at all. Everything is crowded and expensive. My personal opinion is to skip Portofino altogether.

Comment: We’ve been in Portofino before. It was during Covid-19 and we came by car. Even that time it was pretty busy and finding a parking spot was difficult (only one option in town). This time we just took the Bus from Santa Margherita (where we stayed for a few days). On the way back though we though it’d be nice to take the Ferry back.
And that was a great decision. It only takes about 15 minutes to Santa Margherita. And you get nice views on the way of the ocean and the coastline.
The boats are pretty big and in great condition. Get on the boat early to secure a spot on the open deck on top. It costs more than the bus of course, but it is much more rewarding and well worth your money.
Our Bulldog was allowed on the boat as well, even free of charge. How nice is that.
Depending on the weather the service might stop early or the schedule might change. Just ask or look for the sign on the ticket booth.
A really great option and we will definitely take the boat again next time. Both ways. No need for taking the car.

Comment: Nice ferry ride. Takes about 5-6 minutes from Santa Margherita Ligure. There are 2 lines – one is to buy tickets, the other is to get on the boat. They are pretty helpful and even though the line seems too long somehow everyone gets on the ferry 🙂

Comment: Very comfortable ferries which in 10 minutes take you to the closest city, Santa Margherita. While on ferry you will see a stunning view over Portofino and it’s surroundings. Therefore, sitting on the upper deck is recommended, but with a sunscreen of course.
