Comment: Not far from town, the port terminal afforded us the biggest pleasant surprise of our trip. And while originally unscheduled, HAL provided a last minute shuttle (for free!) which dropped us off and later picked us up at Almedalen Park. This might have saved us an hour walking in total and was much appreciated! Visby is a beautiful little Old/New town separated by a grand hillside and overlook of the harbor.

Comment: While Visby offers a delightful blend of history and natural beauty, my recent visit revealed some concerns. The cruise pier was notably overrun with seagulls excrements, and the strong odor of guano was unpleasant.
It’s clear that the town is experiencing a surge in tourism, which, while beneficial in many ways, has also led to some strain. During my 1.5-hour stay, I witnessed a few instances of locals expressing frustration or behaving rudely towards visitors. It’s understandable given the increased pressure on local resources and amenities.
While I appreciate Visby’s charm, I’ve decided to avoid future visits and recommend others to consider alternative destinations if similar concerns persist.

Comment: Visby is wonderful – awesome scenery, medieval buildings, are found every where. 5-10 minutes March from Terminal to market square is an easy but fun thing to do
