Comment: We took the overnight ferry and stayed in a small, but comfortable, cabin on deck two. This would have been ideal although on both crossings we had noisy teenagers running up & down, banging doors and being noisy – it seems deck two is the deck that gets dumped with school trips and teenagers whilst teachers and parents get a good night sleep six decks further up the boat! Apart from this the boat has bars, a Starbucks & a restaurant. No cafe for snacks, or light meals. WIFI is available but very expensive and they switch over to their own network at sea so you can’t use your own network data allowance either.

Comment: We got a great 2 day deal to Amsterdam so our cabin was way down on level 2, very compact but clean, all staff were very helpful, the breakfast was included and there was an excellent wide choice of food .
Down side there’s a lack of comfy seats to relax in and it’s very expensive to eat and drink, don’t be tempted to use your phone it will cost you dearly!
Either wise it was a really smooth journey.

Comment: Noise from ship painting whilst passengers are on board. Just down from the sky deck. Large areas of the outside deck were not available. No mention of this on the tickets or booking. Very poor customer focus DFDS

Comment: This time it was cheaper than flying! Always pays to check and you can take the car with you. It always feels like more of a trip when you take the ferry, just gives it a bit of a nostalgic travel feel. Just imagine the perpetually drunk mini-cruisers as part of the pirate crew

Comment: The ferry is clean, staff are polite and helpful, the food in the explorer kitchen is fairly decent but a little pricey, it’s cheaper if you book ahead (but still pricey)

The shop is limited and far more expensive than the high street, you wont pick up any bargains here!

We took the kids to the cinema which was a decent way to pass the time.

Cabins are as you would expect, functional and comfy enough. Take an extra pillow and either an extension lead or multi port usb if you want to charge more than one phone over night, there is only one power outlet per cabin.

The cabins get super warm in the night if there are four sharing. No aircon in the cabin, just an air extractor, so leave the bathroom door open and the cabin will be a little cooler.
