Comment: Wow, the service was great. We had a few last minute changes and they were very helpful and gave us good advice.
We upgraded to the captain’s level on the way there and it was fun.
Since I was on crutches they let our whole group board early and even provide a wheelchair chair to make getting on easier.
Overall great experience.

The boarding process was quick.
Get to the boarding line 30 mins early to get better seats, especially on weekends.
The boat is good, but the bathrooms could get some attention. Lot of people use it and it smells.
The snack options aboard are OK.
For the cost of the ticket for a 1 hr ride, the quality of the boat could be much better.
Parking charge is an overkill.
Maybe next time I’ll consider driving a bit further and take the boat from NewPort beach. The cost is manageable and they have coupons that can reduce the cost bit.

Comment: My last trip on the Catalina Express was in 2003 and it felt about the same. The boats are smooth but a bit worn down. Still comfortable enough for an hour and clean. Just make sure you get there on time (no real need to arrive a whole hour early though). They close the gates promptly it seems which is appreciated.
The cost for a ticket is definitely more than I expected (we got a military discount) and probably would reconsider going at full price. Be warned: parking in the structure is a whopping $25

Comment: Upgrade to the Commodore Package if you can. Everything about our ride into Avalon was awesome. Our ride back was almost equally as much, except there were a few of the staff who decided to make loud small talk the whole trip behind the bar- it just smacked as unprofessional and should have been done anywhere else where there weren’t paying guests. That small issue aside, Catalina Express is a great way to travel out to the islands!

Comment: Took the Catalina express to go to the island it is 90 per person adult round-trip and you can pay 40 or 120 more for upgrade. It takes about one hour to get to the island there is parking lot. $25 a day.
You can buy the boat express tickets online or in person.
They will ask you to store your bigger bags when boarding.
seats are first come first serve for main area. For good views come stand in line early. And sit near windows. They have seats w tables that go fast. Seats in the back outside seating limited. With bike racks.

Can see dolphins on the way during the day.
You can get seasick so prepare
Bathrooms and bar available.
Reserve your golf cart in advance. You can see a lot on the island that way.
Bring your own food because everything is pricier. But there is a Vons in Avalon.
