Comment: Beautiful island with seashore. You will have to take a somewhat pricey ($20 per ticket one way) ferry to the island but it is worth it. Because of the ferry the island does not have a lot of visitors at one time so it is not crowded. Saw lots of wild horses, crabs, maybe an alligator…. Definitely worth a full day visit.

Comment: Absolutely perfect. Didn’t visit the whole island but it was a very peaceful hike and beach visit. Pictures don’t do any justice, you have to see it to believe it. If heaven was real this would be it!

Comment: Beautiful interior and exterior building inline with local decor. Only giving this 4 Stars due to operating hours. If you plan to max your day on the island, based on ferry schedule, you’ll only have about 20 minutes to visit walked the VC and gift shop. That would be if you take the first and last ferry of the day; the 9a and 430p return. VC hours are 8a-4p. Besides that everyone working there was friendly and helpful. Lastly, MAKE SURE you have everything you need before getting onto the ferry, there is NOTHING available to buy on the island.

Comment: One of my favorite spots to visit. St Marys is a wonderful, quaint town. Took the ferry ride to the natural wilderness of Cumberland and explored mansion ruins, vast sand dunes that reminded of the Mojave Desert, and a beautiful beach full of shells. Walk south to the Pelican Banks and see Florida from the other side. Wild horses roamed about, along with turkey and armadillos. If you want majestic beauty, historic ruins to explore, beautiful shells and sand dollars, and untouched wilderness this place is a must. One of the best national parks in the east.
