Comment: Overnight in a cabin with a front facing window, perfectly clean and reasonable. Had the all you can eat buffet on deck 7, again, good service and wide range of (surprisingly for a ferry all you can eat buffet!!) tasty and fresh food. Everything from sushi, through meat and gravy, to pasta and various other main dishes… Also pickled herring… Wine was reasonable too.

Comment: For the sake of not only convenience, but a new adventure as well, I traveled to the UK by manner of transportation in a way I never have before.

I had never been on a ferry like this, and never overnight. The ship size was absolutely enormous, I felt like a tiny little speck in the universe (which I am). We arrived by car, driving through passport checks and then pulling up to the ferry. The grating sound of rubber on metal made me feel a jolt of nerves, but I quickly felt better once we got out of the car. We were traveling from Amsterdam to Newcastle on DFDS’s Princess Seaways line, with the pups of course, so we got a pet-friendly cabin. The cabin had everything we needed; bunk beds to accommodate all of us, clean bathroom, all the essentials.

But why stay in the cabin when there’s so much to explore?! The first level upstairs from our cabin had entertainment for all ages. A play area for the kids right next to a little coffee place and restaurant, multiple cinemas, and bars with reading materials, tea, and of course, the occasional pint. Heading up another floor, you’ll find a vast buffet called the Explorer’s Kitchen with SO many options, for even the pickiest of eaters. There is also a lovely fine dining restaurant called the North Sea Bistro, where I enjoyed a lovely meal of insalata caprese with delicious Mozzarella di Buffalo (this can also be served vegan upon request), delectable guinea fowl, roasted to perfection and served with roasted potatoes and shallots, and finishing off with a sweet bite of sorbet.

Walking out the stairs to the outside of the ship, there are multiple decks for you to gaze upon a 360 degrees, unobstructed view of the North Sea as the sun sets for the evening. You can even head up to the top of the ship, where you will find the Sky Bar. Wind is minimal due to the walls, even though the ceiling is open, allowing you to enjoy your pint while gazing at the stars. With minimal light pollution, it is truly a sight to behold.

I woke up to the beautiful coastline of Newcastle to greet me. We were instructed how to properly disembark through the intercom, and made our way down to our car. Once we were there, we simply drove off the ship (such an odd sentence for me to write) and arrived in the stunning town of Newcastle, UK!

I’d love to take the time to say thank you to all the DFDS staff. You were all so attentive, polite, thoughtful, and you made this trip such a delight. I cannot wait to be traveling with you all again very soon.

Comment: Always a great time on this boat. Boarding in UK was a bit late but other than that had a great time. Coffee at breakfast is not good but luckily they have a Starbucks on board (at an extra cost of course). It was quite foggy on the way over but a very smooth trip.

Comment: Always love travelling on the Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry as it allows us to take the dog with us into the pet-friendly cabins, rather than leaving him in the van or a kennel at home. Great services onboard with duty free shop, bars, restaurants and cinema.

Comment: A really easy process to book as usual. Boarding is a simple process and the cabins may be small but they do the job for sleeping during the night.
Plenty to do on-board ( nightclub. bar, play area, Starbucks, arcade, duty free and restaurant)
