Early morning Dover to Calais crossing with P&O, travelling with 2 vans. It had been a while since I last did a boat crossing, but I was pleasantly surprised! The loading process was smooth and efficient .
Despite the sea being quite rough, the boat remained very stable, which was a relief. There were plenty of facilities onboard, and I was impressed with the well-priced items in the duty-free shop.
Overall, it was a great experience that will be repeated soon!

Comment: The worst port ever. From border control to check in 60 mins in total. Complete chaos with cars swapping the lines and people in charge completely out of the control. To make the matter wise the ferrie was late over 30 mins. The facilities like the toilet are shocking and there is not enough of them to support all people. I don’t recommend this place.

Comment: It’s a ferry port. There are only four things we are interested in when it comes to a port like this:
1. Waiting times
2. Security
3. Toilets
4. Customer service
We travelled early on the Saturday morning of a May Bank Holiday weekend. The first set of booths for passport checking were closed. The traffic therefore backup up considerably beyond the port area. I would advise opening these sooner to prevent that situation. Once they opened and we passed through, everything ran like clockwork. There is so much parking space at each ferry bay that it makes the available solution even more obvious.
Security seems reassuringly sufficient. Toilets are available at the place where one parks to await boarding. All staff who were checking bookings and passports seemed friendly.

Comment: Premium lounge, well worth the extra if you want to avoid the crush during busy times. Coffee, tea, G&T, Proseco, and sandwiches, cakes, crisps, all included. Very helpful and friendly staff. We will be using it from now on.
