Comment: We did this back in 2018 and it was worth the money! The ferry trip to the fort and back each way are about 30 min.
The ride itself was very pleasant! You learn about the history of Charleston in the 30 minutes of your travel to the fort. Once you get to Fort Sumter- they give you about an hour to look around, take pictures and ask guides questions about its history. It’s definitely one of my favorite tours to date.

Comment: The tour guides are knowledgeable, friendly and willing to answer questions. There is a great deal of American history in the harbor and fort. You get to wander the fort for about an hour to look at the grounds, artifacts and read the placards. The store and the museum at the fort are closed due to COVid. The ferry is large and has a/c and concessions.

Comment: Very cool place to explore. The history of the place is quite amazing. The price to take the ferry over is a little steep and the amount of time they allow you to visit knocks down the value of the trip, but even still I think it is worth visiting. Some will say that it’s just a “pile of bricks”, but I think by not fully restoring the fort it lends profundity to what happened there.
