Comment: Airport links to the Meilan High Speed Train terminal. 10 minutes walk only.
Foreigners can buy HST tickets at the counter directly. Cannot use the self-ticketing machine. Need to use the passport to scan into and out of the HST platform.
Airport is big and clean. Has water dispensers.
Toilets are nice and clean. There are cotton buds and hair tie in the ladies toilet.
There are few international flights coming in and going out.
We were the last to leave the airport after clearing customs (entering Haikou) and was asked why we are still staying inside the luggage belt area.
But in fact, we are just slow as we have 2 kids below 6 years old to handle and there is no priority queue for families with little children here.
When leaving Haikou, there are 3 checks to go through before boarding the plane.
There are food options outside the custom and at the boarding gate area.

Comment: My flight is after midnight so the airport is bit quiet. However the flow is still pretty smooth. Awesome Year of the Dragon setup. There is kids playground at the hall which is thoughtfulness.

Comment: Nice, neat airport. Semi modern, semi rural. Fairly comprehensive with everything and the flow of spaces make sense. Drinking water dispensers readily stationed everywhere.
Airport immigration is cumbersome and takes an eternity but the customs is a stark contrast that took no moment and was no bother at all.
