Comment: Beautiful, colonial main square with lots of restaurants and stores nearby. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area of this great city.

Comment: Plaza de la Independencia is a typical Mexican colonial square. It features a grand church and arcade government building and colorful mansions of the richest citizens of the city. There is a park in the middle of the square and a typical kiosk. All very standard stuff for Mexico, but this plaza is very well maintained, and so are the buildings around it giving it a very pristine, fresh look.

Comment: Great colonial square close to the cathedral and other sites and possibility to get on a tram tour around Campeche (in both spanish and English). Cost about 600 MXN for 12 years old and up but really worth it.

Comment: It was very pretty here, especially inside the cathedral. Unfortunately, many places were closed and there weren’t any signs to mark when they would be open. There were also a lot of people trying to sell us things while we were walking, but they left us alone after a quick, “no, gracias”
