Comment: Disappointing Experience with Airport Security Protocol
While traveling through Oaxaca airport, we encountered a frustrating situation. After passing through security, my friend was waiting in the boarding area with his carry-on and laptop backpack. Unfortunately, while boarding the plane, he accidentally left his laptop backpack on a bench. He realized the mistake immediately upon entering the plane, and despite requesting multiple times to retrieve it (while other passengers were still boarding), the staff refused to assist.
Instead of helping, he was given an ultimatum: either off-board the plane to get the backpack and forfeit his flight or leave it behind. No flexibility, even though the bag was just a few steps away in the boarding area. We felt this was unnecessarily strict, especially as passengers were still boarding.
Though it was our friend’s mistake for forgetting the bag, the lack of assistance or reasonable accommodation made the situation far worse. We ended up exiting the plane with him, as it felt incredibly unfair for him to have to choose between his belongings and his flight. It was a disappointing end to an otherwise great trip.

Comment: As much as I love Oaxaca, the airport, though it seems decent at first glance, is just too small for the demand, especially on weekends. Security is generally decent, but once you’re past security, the airside is overcrowded. There are only two restrooms on either side of the small hall, and both had long lines and ran out of toilet paper and paper towels. They weren’t clean either. There is only a small café and a handful of shops, but don’t expect much more from airside. The airport simply isn’t built for the demand it faces, leading to a disappointing experience when arriving or leaving Oaxaca.

Comment: Very small airport, women’s restrooms only have two stalls, so be prepared to wait a long time. Very few places where to purchase food and drinks as well.
Also this lady in the security area was very rude and unfriendly. She is an older, short and heavyset lady, who has a very nasty attitude.
We come here to spend our very hard earned money and don’t deserve such a rude and ugly treatment. This town survives on tourism and should appreciate it!!!! As much revenue the tourism generates they should build a bigger and modern airport.

Comment: Decent airport, coming from a bigger city in the United States it’s a little small for what I’m used to however still nice!
They have a small cafe in the main area and a few different rental cars or taxis available for rather cheap to get you to nearby hotels, however if you just walk out of the airport you can call a city taxi for half the price
Make sure you have all your travel forms with you and filled out and the process goes super quick!

Comment: I had a great experience at the Oaxaca airport. The staff was super helpful and accommodating. I accidentally walked out of the airport without my luggage and the staff retrieved it for me. I thought I was walking to the luggage pick up area but I went too far. It was a stupid mistake that could have been a real pain but the staff really helped me out and I am very grateful.
