Comment: Catch the Ferry to Hallstatt
Late July in Hallstatt and there is absolutely no parking. So drive 5 minutes to Obertraun and catch the ferry back to Hallstatt. It’s hard to find the ferry but it is on the thin dock that sticks out into the water -unmanned. There is a nice facility nearby (Navia) that has public restrooms, Wi-Fi, and gondola service and a very small restaurant (Seecafe).

Comment: There are 2 docks in Obertraun. The shiffstation at the seecafe and the Obertraun dock at Haus am See. During our stay, gondola type boats left from the shiffstation and the big ferries left from the Obertraun dock. We booked our tickets at Haus am See where we were staying. Both of the big ferries we rode were very nice and both had 2 decks. On the smaller ferry my wife and I had the lower deck all to ourselves as everyone else wanted to sit out in the sun. The bigger ferry is more posh and was also a great experience.

Comment: Boat ride was fine. This guy at the dock on the Halstatt is a jerk. I asked him a question and he scowled at me while for having to look up from his phone. Gave me a half answer then looked back down. He was very friendly to the next customer who happened to be white.
