Comment: Utterly dire experience. Poor sign posting on the arrival roads, and ridiculously slow speed limits. Very limited facilities, just a smelly loo and a couple of vending machines, and Border control so slow it’s mind boggling anybody actually makes a departure. No proper lane organisation, between tickets and border control. Port vehicles bombing around, making leaving your vehicle a dice with death. I’m never travelling on the ferry between Dover and Calais ever again. The Eurotunnel is just so much better.

Comment: It was unbelievable how long it took to check in, I arrived at the port to check in at 6.30pm-11.30pm people were screaming at each other, it was pure chaos. I missed my boat by 3 hours and had to take the next one which was in 3 hours. It wasn’t the staffs fault but I feel like they could’ve done something to stop the 200 people from overtaking eachover into different lanes. After the 4 hours of checking in we went through around 3 more security checks which added on to the wait time.

Comment: So much unorganised chaos that it could ruin a great holiday. We got to the port 2 hours before our departure time and still didn’t manage to get on our designated ferry. We had our passports checked 3 times which seems excessive; especially considering none of those stops included baggage checks meaning I could have carried a tonne of drugs or guns in my suitcase and noone would be any wiser.
When we finally managed to pull up into our lane we found huge queues for disgusting toilets in the duty free building with one set of toilets completely closed. Fancy a coffee or even just some water? Then expect to queue up for 30 or so minutes with only one till. A day I want to forget as quickly as possible.

Comment: From Paris France to UK a road trip is worth a try. The amazing view of downing sun ☀️will make you remember this trip for the rest of your life. Calais border, very cooperative staff on both sides. Easy to reach to ferry, ana amazing ride. Loved it – highly recommended.
