Comment: We had a really nice time aboard the Spirit of Tasmania. The rooms are great (porthole cabin), the food in the Market Kitchen is awesome, multiple bars to enjoy a beer or wine. It was easy driving on and off the boat and all the staff were super helpful and lovely.

Comment: The journey was a fun experience overall, however the sleeping arrangement in the recliners was abysmal as I wasn’t able to sleep comfortably for more than an hour.
The reading light on my partner’s recliner couldn’t be switched off, luckily I had some electrical tape to cover it.
The dinner was good, the staff were friendly and helpful.
We had an enjoyable experience overall.

Comment: We sailed on the Spirit of Tasmania I last weekend for the first time on this route. We hadn’t done the sail before but have always wanted to. We booked a return trip and a cabin for our family of four.

The check in service was easy, provide the last three digits of the booking and off we went. The bio security check was relatively easy where you answer some questions and show the staff under the bonnet and in the boot of the car. Check in for the night sail opens at 4:15pm and closes at 6pm. We arrived at 5:30pm so we were able to get checked in and more or less, straight onto the ship. We didn’t check out the terminal as were a bit later than usual. There is a cafe in there though.

The sailing itself was quite rough that night (it was our first sail but I’m comparing against our return voyage) but of course, this was not at the fault of the operator.

The ferry itself was reasonably comfortable with plenty of facilities onboard.

Absolutely lovely experience and we can’t wait to do it again.

Comment: Bass strait is not for the feint hearted and we luckily missed the worst of recent winter storms. The spirit of Tasmania handles the bumpy conditions well but for humans best to take a few motion sickness ginger tablets. The cabins are small but comfortable and the showers outstanding. We took our car and were really pleased how easy it was and how the friendly staff looked after us. A bit of an adventure really.

Comment: You can’t control the weather and it was not the best day when we traveled. This caused several delays. However the staff was great and made the ship comfortable. Upgrading to the room is worth the price however I would pack my own food for the trip as the prices onboard are pretty high.
