Comment: First time using in years. Overall good experience. Long wait to board to go to France and to return to Ireland.
Trip over felt choppy during the night but I was probably nervous. Slept well on way back.
Few things I would do differently in future. Bring your own water with you! No water on board anywhere cheaper than €3! Small!
Lots of people brought there own food.
Both restaurants were fine €18 for Stroganoff or €16 for most other main courses, fish and chips for example.
All you can eat restaurant was €27 for anything you want or €20 I think for breakfast. Not sure either was worth it.
Standard cabins are very cramped and basic with essentially four bunk beds. It gets very warm at night in there as there is no air conditioning. The walls between cabins are also very thin so someone coughing all the time or snoring is hard to ignore if that kind of thing keeps you awake.
The wait to disembark can be annoying as well but it wouldn’t put me off doing it again, I would prefer to stay longer next time as 17 hours travel + boarding and getting off essentially takes up almost a full day.
I still prefer it to flying. Wife was very nervous beforehand but afterwards said she found it relaxing. Got her nails done on board as well.
You can also get a massage and there was quite a big kids area.

Comment: Great trip to Ireland. If you are walking, there is no entrance next to the museum. You can see the ship right there but can’t get in. You must enter down where the cars do and walk to a terminal where a bus takes all foot passengers to the ship.
Great crew onboard! Several amenities are not available during the off-season, or during rough seas, but the crew was able to acknowledge that and make the trip still very comfortable and worth it.

Comment: While my time in Cherbourg was brief due to being on a ship, I was very impressed with the cleanliness and overall feel of the town. I caught glimpses of a charming port area and a beautiful central square . The maritime museum next to the dock looked particularly interesting, especially the Titanic exhibit. Next time, I’d love to have more time to explore Cherbourg’s history and hidden gems!”

Comment: The customs officer at this French port was extremely rude. I’ve never encountered such behavior before. He kept whistling at me and using rude body language to indicate what I should do. No matter what I said, he kept repeating that he didn’t speak English. If he doesn’t speak English, why is he working at customs? Isn’t the job supposed to involve communicating with foreigners?
There was an even more outrageous incident: this policeman made me spread my arms and stay still, treating me like a criminal! Of course, they found nothing. I was just traveling from the UK to a factory in Cherbourg for a meeting. This must be against regulations. I travel through the Eurotunnel frequently every year, and no officer has ever made such a request before!
I don’t want to meet him again, even don’t want to come here again.

Comment: A little chaotic when departing as the Brittany Ferry signs were not showing the correct departure destinations so cars were being moved between the queues.
