Comment: First of all, some useful information for Stena Line passengers departing from Trelleborg:
Foot passengers have to check in in a service building at Hamngatan 19.
At the counter there is a sign, stating that the actual check-in and bus transfer to the ferry is performed 40 minutes prior to departure.
The service building offers only limited seating. There is no luggage storage. Restrooms are available at the hotel next door, but they charge a fee if you’re not a guest.
Why the bad rating?
The Stena Line website does NOT provide any of this information.
It’s only written that check-in in Trelleborg closes (!) 1 hour (!) prior to departure – which proves to be wrong.
Moreover, their phone support is a bad joke:
– German hotline does not work when calling from within a mobile network (except German D2)
– International hotline says “temporarily out of service”
– Swedish hotline (the number that you see in this Google Maps for this place) is actually answering, they are nice and helpful, and they also provide support in English. However, I was told that check-in opens 2 hours prior to departure. Which proves to be wrong, too.
To sum it up: When travelling Stena, better set your expectations low and prepare to spend 1-2 hours in a somewhat dreary waiting area.

Comment: Nice ferry but a shame there was no food available anymore yesterday after 18:00 except for 2 sandwiches.

Comment: I checked in early and swiftly for my nightly passage from Trelleborg to Rostock on a Stena Line ferry the second day of 2024. The ship is perfectly inpersonal including the quality of the food on offer, that is truly uninspiring so I opted for the safe solution, a shrimp sandwich with two bottles of German beer. This helped me go to sleep while the ship was shaking, hit from the port side by powerful waves created by an easterly storm. We arrived on time early in the morning in pouring rain, just what you love when having to cross Germany on four wheels.

Comment: Our train from Malmö got extremely delayed due to a malfunction and people on the track. We arrived too late and had to stay the night at stena‘s check in. Fortunately nobody was bothered by it and the lady at the stena desk was very welcoming and helpful the next morning. She arranged changing the initial booking to the morning ferry without any problem! Very friendly and competent lady! Travelling with stena has always been a pleasure and sure will be always my first pick!
