Comment: I cannot stress this enough. Make sure that you check the schedule. If I may repeat that, I will make sure that you check the schedule with them. Before showing up, we ended up arriving when they said was a scheduled time to go and had to wait about an hour and a half at the restaurant by the dock. Also, on the way back, they did not go to the stop that we needed. So we needed to take a cab an extra 40 minutes, which was okay because we used Uber. On the way back, they were running behind, so they really rushed it. And I would not recommend getting on top of the boat. We got completely soaked. Overall, it was a great experience on the way into the island, but the way back, the canyon was terrible. Four stars. We also got to see DJ. Khaled and his family so that was exciting.

Comment: The atmosphere was very festive and lively. It’s mostly a port where you can get a ferry ride or a chartered boat to a few islands in Cancun or go on an excursion. I noticed their beach was pretty packed and with the music playing pretty loud everyone looked to be having a good time. It looks like a great place to hang out.

Comment: Bought a ticket for the set time, was told nothing further, other than port two. We walked around a bit before going Ito the port and then were turned away, being told that the ferry was full. If I’m being told a set time, and it’s actually first come first serve, then tell me that. Had I been informed, I would have stood in line when I arrived, 40 minutes before the ferry time. Add to this, they lied, saying oh well the next ferry will come in 30 minutes, when I asked for a refund. Turns out, no I have to wait over an hour for the next ferry. If I had missed the ferry because of my own fault of not listening or following directions, that’s on me. In this case, they didn’t communicate appropriately and then lied to avoid a refund, and then blamed my group for not knowing the ferry would fill up.

Comment: Ferry ride was nice. We were charged 100 pesos for parking. While returning we were made to wait for sometime to board the 5pm ferry. Overall good experience.

Comment: Beware of unscrupulous Ultramar ticket sellers when you get off the bus. We had discount coupons for the Isla Mujeres ferry and when we got off the bus, these scam artists grabbed us and said they were selling tickets for the Isla Mujeres ferry. We even showed them the coupon and brochure for the Isla Mujeres ferry. They said don’t worry just buy the ticket from them to expedite getting on the ferry. After paying and getting the QR code tickets, they said to go directly to Gate #2 and bypass the ticket counter at the dock. Not knowing any better, we straight to Gate #2 and waited. At the gate, there is no information sign saying when the ferry would leave or what ticket you needed. We waited for 45 minutes while others who had a boarding placard got on a ferry. Finally we got in line with our QR code ticket stub and got on the ferry. That is when we discovered the name of the ferry was Ultramar and not Isla Mujeres. This ferry did not go directly to the island and instead made a second stop at a dock towards the east end of the peninsula before leaving for the island. So, we were scammed!!! As we have experienced in Mexico before, beware of fast talking fraudsters out to get tourist dollars. If you want to take the Isla Mujeres ferry and not Ultramar, just walk past these scam artists and go directly to the official ticket office to buy your tickets. I will be filing a complaint with Cancun about the fraudulent Ultramar ticket kiosk.
