Comment: To be sure, it’s a long way from anywhere in all directions. And it has’t really changed; there’s a new boat, and the nice lady who lives in the ferry keepers house is 25 years older, but she ferried my Mom and Dad and I across in ’93 and ’94. She even still grows some beautiful Hollyhocks at her house. We crossed over this summer and headed on down to Geraldine and then to Lewistown. The farms and ranches of Chouteau and Fergus Counties are still as beautiful as ever. It made me sad to have been away for so long.

Comment: If you see any Missouri Red Legs on the far shore, avoid this ferry. Otherwise, it is a fantastic Western history, old time nostalgia trip across a remote section of the Missouri River.

Comment: The operator was extremely friendly and knowledgeable! She explained different floats for kayakers. She even shared a funny story. It was a neat trip across the river. If you’re in the area, especially if you have kids, I’d recommend utilizing it.

Comment: Told me exactly how long to float from Loma boat launch to Coal Banks. If floating 7 hours with water down took me 5 paddling in and off in the kayak. What a gorgeous trip
