Comment: I wasn’t paying attention to time, but drove up to the ticket booth at 10:39 am and bought a round trip ticket for the car and me to Washington Island and a round trip ferry ride to Rock Island. Total cost was about $50 which I thought was very reasonable. Used a credit card. Proceeding to the ferry, a ticket was taken for the first crossing. And, as I am notorious for misplacing things, I stored the remaining tickets in my wallet. Staff guided me into my parking place – plenty of room to open the car door and climb to seating on the top deck. Very breezy, so hold on to your hats. The final car was loaded and we left the dock as scheduled at 10:45. There’s indoor seating and a restroom on board. Smooth sailing on a beautiful, warm, sunny summer day. A visitors’ center with maps of the island and well-maintained restrooms welcomes travelers to the island. There are several restaurants within walking distance.

Comment: Was a fun thing to do and experience and all went well and would give 5 stars besides the crabby old man at the ticket booth. We parked and walked up so kids can use bathroom before we boarded. Walked up and bought tickets. Paid $60 to get yelled at 5 mins later. He told me get in my car and get in line. I pulled out of the parking lot got in line just like he said and as soon as I as I got to the front he started yelling at me and saying I cut into line in front of three other people. After doing exactly what he told me to do. And he made a spectacle out of it and made me pull to the side and wait for another boat even though I bought my ticket before anyone i supposedly cut in line of. And made me look and feel like a complete jerk. Had a rental car with California plates even though I live 3 hours away and am a northerner. He doesn’t like entitled Californians. Yelling at me
For 2 mins more and getting extra help to send me to the side so he can belittle me a little more while people that where 30 mins after me got to board the boat. Besides that it was fun. But always good business to scream at a guy with his young kids in the car to ruin the experience. But I won’t do again thanks to him.
Update: I was contacted by a representative of the company apologizing for the way I was treated. Offered to replace my
Tickets and was very sincere about it all. So don’t let my review keep you from going. Overall was a great time and the rest of the staff is very professional and the boat captains definitely know what they are doing.

Comment: Efficiently run ferry. I’d recommend showing up early morning or not a weekend so you’re not stuck waiting a long time to board. Also tickets never expire so if you decided to stay on the island that night you can use them the next day or 5 years from now according to the crew 🙂

Comment: I wish the ferry had more extended hours. The ferry was clean and on time. The view on the ride between Washington and Rock Islands is beautiful.

Comment: If you’re planning a visit to Washington Island, be sure to budget for the ferry. Yes, it’s expensive…but so is renting bikes or UTVs on the island. And if you’ve never experienced a ferry, then this makes a great first experience.
