Comment: We were super lucky with the great weather from Whittier to Valdez. The 6hrs went by super fast. And overall the boarding process was very organized.
We did book our ferry ahead and exchanged our tickets at the port.
However, if you are trying to do the Anchorage to Valdez loop, I recommend to go the other way around. The drive from Anchorage to Valdez is amazing!! If you drive from Anchorage to Valdez, all the beautiful views are in front and right hand side. Makes the stop much easier. Then the ferry ride from Valdez to Whittier is also breathtaking. I highly recommend the loop.
